Israeli Values Religious Voices

Letter 72 - Sheikh Ghassan Manasra

To the State of Israel and all its inhabitants,

I turn to all the hearts in this country, so we can understand our path from here to the internal light, which covers all of us, as the children of Abraham and those who are responsible for this time.

We know, as Muslims, that we need to live by several values in order for us to be worthy of pleasant life, here on earth and in heaven, because the connecting line between us and the imaginable religious world dwells in the everyday life routine. It is difficult not to acknowledge the existing connection between our actions and our religious belief. In order to receive the faith we all aspire to gain, we need to clean our secret external being, which is decorating the human unit that creates our individual and collective behavior.

We need to act at difficult times as we act at secure times, in order to contribute to human society which exists in this country, by doing good, by understanding, and by forming real, genuine relationships.

In order for us to be able to do that, we must remember that the most important value is ethics. Through this value, we can build the sublime spiritual heavens, which lead to mutual respect within ourselves and between us and the rest of society.

When God willed, God blessed, exalted and praised Prophet Mohammad, Allah's prayer and blessing for him was: “You are endowed with transcendent qualities” (from the Holy Quran, Sura 68, 4).

The transcendent qualities are the cornerstone in human life, from which it can take off and proceed as a person that can clean the human race from all the harsh deeds, which lead to local and international conflicts. It is important to clean all prejudices within us that lead us to an abyss. It is also important to work and develop the peaceful paths we received from the creator of the universe, so we can move towards being free and responsible.

Prophet Mohhamed said the prayer of God and the blessing of peace: “I swear by whom my soul is in His hand, you will not enter heaven until you believe, and you cannot believe until you love one another. If you want me to guide you on how to do that: follow my paths, love each other and spread peace between you (The Books of Traditions of Ibn Maja, Tradition Number 3692).

With great love for all,

Sheikh Ghassan Manasra
