To the State of Israel and all its inhabitants,

I love you. Please love me too. I am a stranger in your land.

A beautiful land, “a good and spacious land, a land flowing with milk and honey”, a land, and that I heard from you, its inhabitants, that does not know peace, unfortunately for you, because it did not have peace for long enough in order to feel, to enjoy and to rejoice. 

It is written in our scripture: “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”. Indeed, it is true. However, is it truly possible to find love in everything and every season? Truthfully, both birth and death can awaken in the depths of our souls the feeling of love. Even crying and laughter occasionally find their source in our love. Similarly, both the silence and the speech can express love, but not always. Sometimes they express the opposite, the hatred. Don't let that happen.

Fortunately, there is love in planting, healing, building, dancing and hugging. But we will never find love in killing, destroying, throwing stones, in rupture and in war. When we allow ourselves to act out of hatred, jealousy or anger, this land is torn apart and then it calls with a gentle whisper “Hear, O Israel The Lord our God, the Lord is one, Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” and “love your neighbor as yourself”.

In The New Testament it is written: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres”.

One of the most righteous women in our history, Little Teresa, was searching for her place in the world. She could not find any position nor any status, until she found love and chose to live like the beating heart of our society. 

We all have a heart. Although we have different positions, different paths and different status. Let us not forget that we have a heart.
